- Table of Symmetry Features
Symmetry faults are irregularities in the cut caused during cutting.
Determination of proportions includes the following measurable symmetry features:
- deviation from circular shape
- tilted table
- eccentric table
- eccentric culet.
Symmetry features are examined visually under 10 x magnification and judged according to degree of discernibility. Thus:
| Crown | Deviation from circular shape Tilted table Eccentric table Wavy table edges Truncated main facets Main- facets too short Transposed facet edges Facets of unequal size |
| Girdle | Girdle with unequal thicknesses Wavy girdle Edge displacement at girdle |
| Pavilion | Truncated main facets Main facets too short Girdle facets of unequal lengths Facets of unequal size Appearance of the culets |
